Simple Pleasures: Figs and Honeyed Cream Cheese

I found these beautiful figs at my local market. They looked so good I just had to get them but I had no idea what I would do with them once I got home. They didn't linger long until I remembered a deliciously simple dish a food blogger friend had brought to an Austin Food Blogger Alliance board meeting last month (thanks MisoHungry!) - she shared fresh figs with dollops of cream cheese and a drizzle of honey. So simple, so delicious.
Since I've been leaning towards a vegan diet these days, I happened to have some soy-based cream cheese on hand. I got out my handy dandy handmixer and whipped a couple of tablespoons of vegan cream cheese with a teaspoon or two of local honey, until the mixture was light and creamy.
Then I spooned generous dollops over the washed and halved figs. So good - keeping it simple can be so tasty.
